The Penticton Pinnacles under-21 soccer teams return to Pacific Coast Soccer League action this weekend with critical matchups.
The Hyundai Pinnacles women's squad hosts the Fraser Valley Action at King's Park at 2 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, they welcome the Peninsula Co-op Highlanders at noon. The Pinnacles are looking to build off winning the women's open division in the 53rd Pacific Western Brewery May Classic tournament on Victoria Day. Coach Ray Hintz said facing the Highlanders from Victoria is going to be a tough game. After losing to the Highlanders 1-0 on May 3, it's a game they want. Hintz added that Victoria will also be a challenge.
Entering the weekend, the Highlanders have won once and tied once, while the Action are still looking for their first win.
The Tim Hortons Pinnacles men's squad are on the road after being disappointed in losing to Williams Lake FC last weekend.
Coach Wyatt Seddon-Johnstone said they are looking to hit the reset button and improve their 1-0 record in the Reserve Division.
"We have two big games coming up, our biggest of the season," he said.
The Pinnacles open a two-game road trip in Ladysmith against the Mid Isle Highlanders, who tied their first game 4-4 against the Victoria Highlanders FC. The Pinnacles then travel to Victoria.
