Kelowna Pursuit of Excellence achieved just that in Sunday’s gold medal game of the bantam prep Canadian Sport School Hockey League Championships at the OHA rink.
The team jumped into an early first-period lead and never looked back, coasting to a 7-1 win over the Delta Hockey Academy, giving up the lone goal in the final frame.
The victory capped a successful week-long tournament hosted by the Penticton Okanagan Hockey Academy.
Connor McClennon lead the team with a hat trick adding a helper to round out a four-point performance.
Kyle Crnkovic was the top point getter in the game with a pair of markers and three assists. Jordan Borysiuk rounded out the scoring with a pair of goals.
The team lead 4-0 and 6-0 after the first and second periods respectively.
Talyn Boyko stopped all but one of the 31 shots to record the win.
Justin Sourdif had Delta’s lone marker.
The victory was a measure of revenge for Pursuit which finished in second place, just a single point back of Delta in the regular season standings.
