Penticton’s senior Vees AAA team has signed Stephen Peat to help them win the Allan Cup.

The 31-year-old from Princeton, who was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks 32nd overall in 1998, has recovered from a broken leg suffered a few years ago.

“At 31 he is still in his prime,” said senior Vees team manager Rob Dekock, adding that with his leg healthy, he has time to make it back to the NHL with hard work. “Stephen is a character player that brings a great work ethic to the rink and that is what he is noted for dating all the way back to his WHL days in Red Deer. The senior Vees management are very happy Stephen has chosen the senior Vees to play for and he will be a big weapon.”

Peat last played in the NHL in 2005-06 with the Washington Capitals for one game. He has played 130 games, scoring eight goals, 10 points and 234 penalty minutes.

Peat, who resides in Vancouver will arrive in Penticton in time for their next game on Feb. 26 when they host the Prince George Mohawks at the Summerland Arena.
