Three Penticton teams made it to their respective finals in the 55th annual Pacific Western Brewery May Classic Soccer Tournament.

The PSC Pinnacle Reunion team took the recreational division while the other two Penticton teams settled for second place in the women’s open division.

The Murray GM Pinnacles won two and tied to get to the women’s open division final undefeated. They ran into stiff competition with the Kootenay team edging them out 1-0.

The men’s side was won by the Vancouver legends over the Carlton FC team that featured both Kelowna and Penticton players. The Penticton Cannery Brewzers lost in the men’s B final.

Dale Anderson, president of the Penticton Soccer Club said it was great to have this level of competition across the board at the tournament. He added it wouldn’t be possible without key volunteers like Susan Bushman, Chad Folden and Dave Fraser to make the event a success. As well as the City of Penticton parks crew for keeping the fields in amazing shape that the players were “gushing” about.

“Because of the fields and facilities being in excellent condition we were able to secure a major sponsor (SoccerX.com ) for the next May tournament. He wants to put up $5,000 first prize for the men’s side and that means we are looking at a premier tournament with the level of soccer that has not been played in the Okanagan anywhere,” said Anderson.
