The Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) announced today that the Board of Directors has voted in favour of accepting St. George’s School of Vancouver into the CSSHL.
Founded in 1930, St. George's School is a boys' university preparatory school, offering a day program in Grades 1-12 and a boarding program in Grades 8-12. Enrollment is currently at 1150 student athletes, 109 of which are boarders from over 20 countries worldwide.
“The CSSHL is very pleased and excited to have St. George’s join our league,” said CSSHL chairperson Andy Oakes. “The quality of their education system and longevity of the school makes them an ideal partner for the league. As we strive to be the national leaders in education-based hockey, St. George’s will compliment that greatly.”
St. George’s School will begin play in the CSSHL for the 2017-18 season with two teams at the bantam level.
ABOUT THE CSSHL
The Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) was established in 2009 for elite level student athletes, giving them the opportunity to increase their skills off and on the ice, while also providing them with a high level of competition and exposure. All programs within the CSSHL are sanctioned Hockey Canada Sport Schools, meeting the regulations of not only Hockey Canada, but Hockey Alberta, BC Hockey, Saskatchewan Hockey Association and Hockey Manitoba.
The CSSHL continually strives to be a leader in education based hockey in North America. The objective of the league is to provide a competitive environment for young student athletes that share similar values of Sportsmanship, Citizenship, Academic Excellence and Hockey Development.
Currently, the CSSHL includes seven different divisions at the Bantam, Midget and Female levels. Over 1100 student athletes from 18 Sport School and 60 teams spread across Western Canada call the CSSHL home for the 2016-17 season.
