The Three Lakes Triathlon Series has reach an agreement with the Chinook Triathlon Festival in Alberta to transfer the Chinook Triathlon Festival to Sylvan Lake starting with the 2015 event scheduled for August 1st. Three Lakes Series in return are dropping their Sylvan Lake Loop Triathlon which was originally scheduled for July 19.
"The timing for making this change was imminent. Our registrations were not where we needed them to be to produce a viable race," said Three Lakes Series race director Steve Brown in a press release. "Unfortunately we were facing an uphill battle as we tried to overcome past history with the Sylvan Lake event. We really struggled with a decision as to what to do as we felt an obligation to the athletes and the community of Sylvan Lake."
By switching the Sylvan Lake Loop Triathlon with the Chinook Triathlon Festival, it eases the pressure on an already heavily serviced triathlon community.
