In a game that took nearly nearly four hours to decide, the Princeton Posse edged past the Revelstoke Grizzlies 3-2 in front a rowdy home crowd Friday, March 29.
With less than four minutes to go in the second overtime period, defenseman Jeffrey Stewart broke away and beat Grizzly netminder Josef Kuchaslo.
The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League conference final series now sits at 3-2.
The action moves back to Revelstoke for Saturday, March 30, where Princeton will once again have to fight for its life in the playoffs.
A seventh game, if necessary, will be played in Princeton Monday, April 1.
The first period Friday night was scoreless, with tight end-to-end play.
Princeton’s Rookie of the Year Vinay Junek opened the scoring midway through the second frame, off a pass from Lucas Sadownyk.
Tyson Horiachka gave Princeton a 2-0 lead early in the third, with Sadownyk assisting again along with Dayton Nelson.
Then Revelstoke was able to capitalize on consecutive power plays to tie the match.
Mikkel Hrechka and Daniel Wittenberg both scored, with assists credited to Alexander Bronswyk, Nathan White and Luke Aston.
Revelstoke outshot Princeton 57-50, with Princeton goalie Blake Sittler making 55 saves.
