Émilien Boily is out and Zach Driscoll is in for the Penticton Vees.
Boily's career with the Vees was short-lived as the 1997-born goalie earned a win (6-2 over the Surrey Eagles) in his only start on Sept.18 while posting a 2.00 goals against average and .913 save percentage. He was dealt to the OCN Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League for future considerations.
The Vees acquired Driscoll from the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League for future considerations on Monday. They feel the move improves their crease depth with Anthony Brodeur.
Driscoll, 18, split last season between the Austin Bruins of the North American Hockey League and the Lancers of the USHL. With the Bruins, the Apple Valley, Minn., product had a 2.19 goals-against average and a .920 save-percentage in 14 games. He was acquired by the Lancers in December of last year and picked up six wins in 18 games. Prior to playing junior, Driscoll played at East View High School in his hometown of Apple Valley. In his junior year, Driscoll was named to the Associated Press First Team All-State after putting up a 2.03 goals-against average and a .930 save-percentage in 25 games. Driscoll will join St. Cloud State University in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference in 2016-17 season, where current Vees alumni Joey Benik and Patrick Newell play.
The next Vees home game is Oct. 2 when they host the Merritt Centennials at the South Okanagan Events Centre at 7 p.m.
