The 1st annual Valley First Granfondo Axel Merckx Okanagan is taking place July 9 and 10 in Penticton. The weekend includes not only a 92 kilometre or 160 km ride, cycling expo, Piccolo Fondo (race for children) family fun but also a grand celebration of all things cycling. The event wants to provide that great Okanagan hospitality the area is known so well for — volunteers.

Volunteering positions include registration, set-up, aid station, clean-up, medical, course support, finish line and more. While there are many ways people can help, they all have one thing in common: people are part of the event. Volunteers play a key role in creating an unforgettable experience for athletes, spectators, and tourists from all over the world who will attend this great event.

A volunteer information meeting takes place on June 5 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Penticton Wine Country Chamber of Commerce main board room.
