Dear editor:

After seeing just how the Christmas lighting project in Gyro Park has been received by residents of Penticton and the reasonable cost to produce that lighting event, you have to ask yourself why city council feels $350,000 in new lighting costs is reasonable for the skate park.

Could you imagine spending that amount for permanently lighting Gyro Park for its residents and tourist as an attraction. Making that park a destination for tourists to visit throughout the entire year. Creating Park Walkways and all the many beautiful trees decorated in different lighting designs. We have very creative people in our city to assist in that design work. Working with the city’s electrical department , much of the production costs could easily be absorbed by the help of local businesses and Penticton residents.

I truly believe the support for this kind of project would get overwhelming response by most Penticton taxpayers.

Let’s make our downtown an exciting tourist destination!

Currently Gyro Park has proved itself as a destination to visit this Christmas.

Congrats to all those involved…now let’s carry on with that thought.
