This Family Day holiday there’s plenty to do in Penticton, including at the SOEC and the Community Centre swimming pool.

For the first time since 2019, the Penticton Community Centre will be open between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. with the waterslide and leisure pool scheduled to be available all day.

The city and community sponsors, with financing provided by the Province of BC, are hosting a fun-filled afternoon on the plaza at the South Okanagan Events Centre between noon and 3 p.m.

Bring your family and enjoy free hot chocolate, BBQ by donation, outdoor family games, accessible sensory space and photo booth.

If you bring your own skates you can enjoy the ice at the SOEC at no cost. CSA-approved helmets or winter helmets are not mandatory but strongly recommended. Helmets and skates will not be available to rent and kids aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult/guardian.

City facilities including City Hall, City Yards, McLaren Arena, Penticton Public Library and the Penticton Museum & Archives will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19 for Family Day. These facilities will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

Family Day in Oliver:

Just in time for the Family Day long weekend, iLumiDance is planning to light up Venables Theatre in Oliver on Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

In this interactive performance, audience members get to see three dances featuring electronic costumes, props and puppets. The light wire technology not only enchants students with professional dance, it gets them excited about the “technology” component of STEM learning.
