Over 75 years ago when the Penticton Regional Hospital Gift shop opened their booth to sell knitted items for babies they probably didn’t imagine fast forwarding to 2022 and signing a pledge to raise $200,000 for the upcoming Oncology Clinic at PRH.

The volunteer-run gift shop inside the hospital is one step closer to making good on its pledge to raise $200,000 for the local oncology clinic.

The 75-year-old Treasures and Trinkets gift shop recently presented the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation with a $30,000 cheque, in support of the $10 million Oncology Clinic at the Penticton hospital.

Leaders from the gift shop, including June Revell-Quevillon who has managed the shop for 25 years, pledged in 2022 to raise $200,000 for the $10 million campaign.

Since its inception, the store has donated more than $1 million to the SOS Medical Foundation.

The gift shop’s donation comes after businesses on Penticton’s Martin Street teamed up for a “Stash Bash,” a new campaign from last month that raised almost $2,000 for the hospital’s oncology department. Service groups and businesses donated $625,000 through Giving Tuesday for the new oncology department.
