With the BCHL Playoffs inching closer, a Penticton brewery is bringing back a familiar drink to support the home team.

Cannery Brewing is re-introducing its Penticton Vees Lakeboat Lager, in support of what the hockey team hopes is another extended postseason appearance.

Fraser Rodgers, the Vees’ vice president of business operations, was seen presenting the special-themed cans at the brewery in a social media post on Thursday, March 21.

“Playoff hockey is on deck and that means playoff beer,” representatives from the Vees said.

“The Vees Lager is back.”

Over the Vees’ past two playoff runs — which have both ended with Penticton winning the Fred Page Cup — the beer has been available at select private liquor stores, Cannery Brewing’s taproom and South Okanagan Events Centre concession stands.

The lager is expected to be on local taps in the coming days.

The BCHL Playoffs begin on April 5, with Penticton looking to become the first team in 13 years to win three straight league titles.
