It’s been nearly one week and there is still no sign of a senior man who went missing in Coldstream.

Robert Baines was last seen leaving his daughter’s house on Ponderosa Way Jan. 2 around 6 a.m.

The 83-year-old was recently diagnosed with Alzheimers and his family is frantic to find him, having recently posted photos on social media of what he was last seen wearing.

RCMP and Search and Rescue crews have scoured the area, including Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park.

But as of Monday, Jan. 8, Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski confirms Baines has not been located.

Search crews have been knocking on doors in the Kal Park neighborhoods - requesting to search outbuildings and yards.

“We cannot enter your yard without permission,” said Coralie Nairn, Vernon Search and Rescue manager.

Those who live in the area and are not at home but would like to give permission to search, can forward their address to vsarclues@gmail.com.

“Statistically, the highest probability of locating a person on this type of search is within a structure (they will seek shelter),” said Nairn. “Vernon SAR would like to clear and confirm ‘where he is not’ wherever possible.”

Baines was last seen wearning a green jacket, blue jeans, Tilly hat and brown hiking shoes.
