Il Vecchio Delicatessen is closed for the foreseeable future after someone tested positive for COVID-19.

The popular sandwich place in downtown Penticton, which always has a line up, posted to their Facebook page that someone ‘close to the establishment’ has tested positive for COVID-19.

That was posted on April 3. On Saturday, April 17, they were still closed.

Staff is working with Interior Health to deal with this matter appropriately, said the post.

“We hope you all stay safe and hope to see you again soon,” the Facebook post said.

Il Vecchio’s is the latest to temporary close due to close contact having COVID-19 in Penticton.

The South Okanagan saw 50 COVID-19 cases over the last week, according to the BCCDC.

Penticton recorded the most cases with 37, while the South Okanagan region including Oliver and Osoyoos saw 12. One new case was reported in Keremeos for the week of April 4 to 10.
